Our Chef works passionately every day to satisfy all our guests and the menu was carefully designed to include the most popular meals requested in various restaurants throughout  the country.

Besides taking inspiration from Italian and Spanish migrants, our dishes also feature ingredients from the Andean northwest as well as Patagonia in the south. The asado, an elaborate meal of grilled meat, is one of the most important culinary traditions.

We have remarkably good cuisine like steak, stellar ice cream, mouthwatering pastas, and dozens of other savory items. As always, our wish is to delight guests with fantastic food every evening,

We have special appetizers and drinks available before dinner, as well as delicious local desserts after every meal. Get ready to enjoy our famous sweet milk caramel, “dulce de leche”, breakfasts with eggs and bacon, and “Asados” (BBQ). We’re also always happy to accommodate special requests from our guests.

The Fishing

Uguay Lodge is surrounded by more than 150 acres of protected native forest, grasslands, and marshes, the lodge is one of the gateways to one of South America's largest freshwater ecosystems. From here, guests enjoy exclusive access to Fernández Lagoon through the lodge's private channel, reaching untouched waters where fishing and wildlife exist in complete harmony.

This program is beginner-friendly and can easily be adapted for those interested in learning or combining fly and spin casting techniques. You'll target the iconic Golden Dorado a rare game fish known for its unique beauty, ferocious fighting, explosive runs, and tarpon-like acrobatics.

The golden Dorado has a large head, with powerful jaws filled with sharp teeth. It reaches maturity around 37 cm (15 in) long, and is golden colored. The average size of the golden Dorado is about 3–10 kg (6.6–22.0 lb). The largest recorded size is 100 cm (39 in) length and 31.4 kg (69 lb).The golden Dorado lives in warm freshwater habitats and they eat a wide variety of prey fish. One of the Dorado’s favorite prey is the sabalo, a type of schooling fish typically 1–4 kg (2–9 lb) in weight.

The aggressive nature of the dorado, its high jumps, great fighting strength, and stamina have created a competitive market among anglers from all corners of the world, traversing South American waters in hopes of hooking a dorado.

Gear and Equipment

Rods

We recommend #6/7/8/9 fast action rods, so big streamers with lead eyes don´t boder your casting.

Reels

The reel has to have a good brake. The backing should be well loaded (150 yards of 20 pounds), large arbor if possible.

Lines

You will need tropical fly lines for saltwater. We advise to bring one clear/sinking tip and one floating line.

We will use 9 feet leaders that would finish in a diameter no smaller than 20/30 Lb. resistance.

Dorado flies are big streamers tied in #1/0 al #5/0 hooks. Every fly will be tied on a stainless steel knottable leader of not less than 8 inches long and 15 to 30 Lb. test strength.

Flies

You will need average two dozen dorado flies in various patterns for your trip; but we are able to provide you with the right fly fishing flies. it is important to have a bunch of flies with heavy lead eyes, some medium weight flies with bead chain eyes. Sizes should be mostly #3/0’s with a few #4/0’s and a few smaller #2’s. Flies should be darker patterns and combination with black, and also need some very light or white patterns for white sand flats. Some of the best patterns are streamers tied with muddler head and well loaded of.

Travelling Here

Most international flights leave the US in the evening and land in Buenos Aires (EZE) the following morning. Delta (stop in Atlanta), United (non-stop, the fastest flight of 10 hours), American (connection in Miami or Dallas) offer daily flights. Also check LAN flights but make sure that the connection is in Miami and not in Santiago de Chile because it takes longer

The final destination for this experience is Esteros del Ibera, Corrientes, Argentina. The best international connection is through Buenos Aires (Argentina).

You can either fly private or to take a domestic flight to either Libertador General José de San Martín Airport (Posadas, Misiones) or Corrientes Airport (CNQ)

*Contact us to quote private charters.

NOTE: Make sure that you have plenty of time (at least 3 to 4 hours) in between flights once you reach Buenos Aires in between Ezeiza International airport and Aeroparque Local airport. You will have to clear customs and take a trip by taxi or private car to the domestic airport. This trip usually takes 30/50 minutes but depending on traffic, it can take one hour.*

*Our company organize private ground tranfers and hotel reservations in Buenos Aires City in case you will need/request it.

There will be always someone from our staff waiting for you at the airport and we will drive you to the lodge.
