Another week at Estancia Maria Behety Lodge has come to an end. The fishing was good and difficult at times but overall good. The weather changed a lot, quite windy and very cold in the morning. Most of the fish we are catching are already quite dark, but some fresh fish from the sea continue to come in.
85 fish landed. 27 fish over 15 pounds, 3 of them were over 20 pounds.
Water Conditions:
Water color and visibility: Clear water and good visibility
Water temperature: 40 F to 50 F
Water level and amount of increase or decrease through the week: River dropped an inch or so during the week
Weather Conditions:
Wind speed ranges through the week: 5 to 30 mph.
Air temperature ranges through the week: 22°F to 58°F
Fishing Conditions:
Flies that are working the best: Mostly nymphs: EMB, red butt, tdf prince, pepe prince.
Black wooly buggers, yuk bug, tdf taxi, intruders, leeches.
Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc):
Heavy tips: T-14 and T-17 and T-20 in different lengths
When we have to throw T´s a Skagit head is the best option.
Length and strength of tippet and leaders:
3 to 10 feet, 12 to 20 pounds

Number of anglers for the week: 12
Total number of fish landed for the week: 85
Weight of the biggest fish landed for the week: 22 pounds.
Number of fish landed over 15 pounds: 24
Number of fish landed over 20 pounds: 3
Notable Catches:
Michael Bernhard landed a 22 pounder.
Bill Engber landed a 22 pounder.
Rick Glad landed a 22 pounder.

La villa de Estancia Maria Behety Lodge

Good fishing week here at La Villa. The first 3 days the fishing was great and then it got difficult the last 3 days, the fish were deep in the pools and difficult to move it.
90 fish were landed, 28 fish over 15 pounds, 2 over 20, Average weight 10 pounds.
Floating lines didn’t work very well this week. Sinking lines were the best, dead drifting nymphs.
Top rod of the week was James Robertson with 24 fish to the net, the biggest 19 pounds.
Ken McFarlane landed the biggest fish of the week at 23 pounds.
Water Conditions:
Water color and visibility: Very clear water.
Water temperature: 6°C to 12°C
Water level: the river is at a great level.
Weather Conditions:
Wind speed ranges through the week: Blew from north west like usual, and it wasn’t strong.
Air temperature ranges through the week: -5°C to 14°C.
Weather observations: windy and cold all week.
Fishing Conditions:
Flies that are working the best: Nymphs: Emb, wonder bug, prince nymph, Different sizes of
Sun-ray shadows. Big flies for the last hour: big tube flies.
Emb’s, red tail, monkey tube flies were the best, using sinking lines.
Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc):
Skagit heads with different lengths of T-17, T-14, and T-11. Also Scandi lines with poly-leaders.
Floating lines didn’t work very well this last week.
Length and strength of tippet and leaders:
6 to 12 feet, 12 to 16 pounds
Most of the fish were in the middle part of the river, lower part is empty and the upper sections are getting good.
